WEST GLACIER, MONT. – Glacier National Park will celebrate the annual National Park Service Fee Free Day in conjunction with National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 30, 2006, and will waive the entrance fee to the park for this one day.

"Glacier is open year-round and the fall is a great time to come and experience Glacier. You can still visit Logan Pass by traveling on the Going-to-the-Sun Road from West Glacier. The leaves are turning golden, there are picturesque snow-capped peaks, and visitors can enjoy a very relaxed pace in the park," commented Glacier National Park Superintendent Mick Holm.

The free entrance also applies to commercial tours. However, other park user fees, such as camping fees, are not waived.

Visitors are reminded that a short 2.5 mile segment of the Going-to-the-Sun Road is closed to visitor traffic between Siyeh Bend and Logan Pass for road construction. Weather permitting, Logan Pass is accessible from the west side and visitors can travel approximately 15 miles from St. Mary to Siyeh Bend.
