Two Medicine Culvert Replacement Work to Begin October 1

Date: September 26, 2006
Contact: Melissa Wilson, 406 888-7895

WEST GLACIER, MONT. – Officials at Glacier National Park report that Willow Creek Construction of Browning, Mont. has elected to begin work to replace the damaged concrete culvert on the Two Medicine Road on Sunday, October 1. Therefore, there will be no vehicular access into Two Medicine after 10 p.m. on Saturday, September 30. Officials originally reported that the work would begin October 2, 2006.

Due to this project, the Two Medicine campground will close on September 30 at noon. The campground will not reopen again until next spring.

Hikers and bicyclists can still access Two Medicine. They will be allowed to walk through the construction area after a safe crossing opportunity has been indicated by the construction crew or as indicated by signs.

The October 1 closure will begin at the park boundary (at the Glacier National Park sign) on the Two Medicine Road; the culvert is approximately one half mile beyond this sign.

The project will be completed by November 3.
