Mission: More Protection, Less Process

DEP Douglas Building

The Department of Environmental Protection protects, conserves and manages Florida's natural resources and enforces the State's environmental laws. In addition to managing Florida's award-winning state park system, the Department also conserves environmentally-sensitive land, restores waterways and preserves important cultural and historical resources through the 10-year, $3 billion Florida Forever program established by Governor Jeb Bush and the Florida Legislature. Together with the South Florida Water Management District, the Department is implementing the 30-year, $10.9 billion state-federal partnership to restore America's Everglades - the largest environmental restoration project in the history of the world.
