Asset Readiness Management System
Following the success of the NA-42 Event Tracking System (NETS) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) developed the Asset Readiness Management System (ARMS) for DOE.
This system provides readiness information on the department's assets—allowing managers to know the level of training of their personnel and the status of their equipment at any given time. The database is used at 12 national laboratories and DOE Headquarters to monitor the the readiness of these nationally critical teams.
ARMS calculates a readiness score for each asset by tracking the number of personnel assigned to each team, their training, their inventory of equipment, and whether that equipment has been maintained. Through the system, users can view:
- the billeted members of each team
- the training of each team member
- the status of a piece of equipment and its location
- periodic requirements for both training and equipment maintenance
ARMS will notify a program manager via e-mail prior to any qualification lapsing. Similarly, equipment maintainers receive e-mail notifications of upcoming maintenance due on equipment. In this way, the DOE Assets maintain the highest state of readiness at all times.
ARMS can also be used during an actual nuclear incident to:
- identify those personnel who are qualified and available to respond
- identify and move necessary equipment where needed
- quickly generate aircraft manifests or country clearances.
