Videos - abuse & financial exploitation
Videos are available in VHS format on topics related to abuse and financial exploitation of older persons and persons with disabilities.  They illustrate specific scenarios and provide information for prevention and response.

Order Videos:   Print, fill-out and submit by mail or fax to the office noted on the form. Checks, money orders, visa or mastercard are accepted.

Note: All videos can be used by any state.

  1.  “Restoring the Sacred Circle: Responding to Elder Abuse in American Indian Communities” -  Illustrates via scenarios, visual descriptions, and interviews the factors contributing to elder abuse in American Indian Communities and presents ideas on addressing the problems through a multi disciplinary effort. Length: 30 minutes - closed captioning

  2. “Roll Call: Elder Abuse” (Hosted by Gary Farmer. Companion video to “Restoring the Sacred Circle:...”) Illustrates via several scenarios the various types of abuse.  Directed toward Tribal law enforcement officers, but useful for anyone working with American IndianCommunities.  Emphasizes writing a report and contacting Adult Protective Services. Length: 14 minutes - closed captioning

  3. “Roll Call: Elder Abuse” – For law enforcement officers. Illustrates via several scenarios the various types of abuse.  Similar to #2, but different script and host. Emphasizes writing a report and contacting Adult Protective Services. Length: 14 minutes - closed captioning

  4. “The Victimization of Barbara White” – A revealing and moving description of her ordeal by a 90-year-old victim of physical assault, robbery and kidnapping.  Also describes the reactions of the bank, the criminal justice system and her relatives. Length: 14 minutes

  5. “Accommodating the Older Victim” – A victim advocate describes problems experienced by an 85-year-old woman with disabilities who testified at the trial of a man who sexually abused her. Length: 6 minutes

  6. “A Helping Hand for Caregivers” – Illustrates via scenarios, examples of abusive behavior by caregivers of adults with disabilities and describes warning signs for which caregivers can be on the lookout. Length: 20 minutes - closed captioning

  7. “Nobody Should Have to Live with Abuse” – Illustrates via scenarios, various types of abusive behavior by caregivers of older persons in different settings  (one scene of younger person with disabilities). Discusses contributing factors. Length: 10 minutes - closed captioning

  8. “Preventing Elder Financial Exploitation: How Banks Can Help” – Two videos and manuals in an aesthetic box. Set 1 illustrates via several scenarios how bank employees can recognize, respond to and report possible financial exploitation. Set 2 illustrates how banks can conduct educational seminars for older persons in their communities regarding how to avoid victimization. Length: Set 1 = 18 minutes; Set 2 = 14 minutes

  9. New- “Preventing Elder Financial Exploitation: How Banks Can Help” Updated version of # 8.  Includes a DVD and manual, with cover and spine sheets to make own binder. The DVD has two parts: Chapter 1 illustrates 6 scenarios of how bank employees can recognize, respond to, and report possible financial exploitation.  Chapter 2 discusses how banks can conduct educational seminars on financial exploitation.  Length: Chapter 1 = 27 minutes; Chapter 2 = 15 minutes
