Site of attack
Adult beetles feed on leaves and flowers and larvae feed in or on root hairs and young roots.
Mode of attack
Feeding on the leaves reduces photosynthesis. Feeding within the roots reduces the plant's ability to absorb moisture and nutrients. Larval root damage may also provide entry points for soil-inhabiting pathogenic fungi.
Destructive stage
Adult and larval-internal.
