Deploying Technologies

The Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicles Data Center (AFDC) not only houses more than 3,000 sources of data and analyses, it transforms technical information into user-friendly tools that help users make educated transportation choices. By supplying the technically sound, unbiased information fleets and consumers need to adopt alternative fuels and advanced vehicles, the AFDC plays a role in deploying these technologies.

The Clean Cities initiative and the Energy Policy Act fleet programs have relied on the AFDC for technical information since 1991 when the center was developed. The AFDC continues to support the goals of these programs, which have resulted in the deployment of more than 500,000 alternative fuel vehicles and the displacement of more a billion gallons of gasoline.
