WASHINGTON, June 24, 2008 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the appointment of Hilda G. Beiersdorfer to the Farm Service Agency (FSA) State Committee in Indiana.
FSA state committees are responsible for the general direction and supervision of state FSA programs. Committees keep farmers informed of agency program activities while resolving appeals and complaints. Members also maintain cooperative relationships with the agribusiness community.
Beiersdorfer has been owner and partner of Beiersdorfer Orchard which has been in operation for more than 50 years where she grows a variety of fruits and vegetables.
Beiersdorfer has served on the Dearborn County Soil and Water Board, the Oklahoma-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Conservation Council, and currently serves on the Dearborn County Extension Board. She has sponsored and participated in Ag-Day with the Dearborn and Ripley County Farm Bureaus for the past 18 years.
A former elementary school teacher, Beiersdorfer earned her teaching degrees from Our Lady of Cincinnati College and Miami University in Troy, Ohio.
