Alaska

Alaska's Team Nutrition Training Grant will focus on providing training for Child and Adult Care Food Program foodservice staff and educators on the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPyramid in order to serve nutritious meals and be role models for children.

California

California's Team Nutrition Training Grant will implement a statewide training program for entry-level foodservice personnel in schools and child care facilities. Training will be provided by local staff and community college staff.

Connecticut

Connecticut's Team Nutrition Training Grant will assess early childhood programs (pre-school) regarding their current policies and practices on nutrition and physical activity, develop a policy action guide, and provide training to early childhood programs for implementation.

District of Columbia

The District of Columbia will provide a 10-week foodservice staff training program for child care centers and family day care homes, and offer mini-grants to child care centers to create innovative and personalized nutrition education programs that encourage a healthy child care environment.

Idaho

Idaho's Team Nutrition Training Grant will provide training for school foodservice staff, implement an adaptation of the HealthierUS School Challenge in Child and Adult Care Food Programs, and promote a statewide Power Panther initiative.

Illinois

Illinois will provide training for school foodservice staff to prepare meals that meet the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans using Illinois's School Meals Step Up to the Plate, the Healthy Cuisine for Kids and the Culinary Techniques for Healthy School Meals.

Indiana

Indiana will provide training for child care foodservice staff on planning and preparing meals and snacks that complies with the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPyramid. The grant supports the creation of video-based training resources available on DVD and streaming video on the web.

Iowa

Kansas

Kansas will provide technical assistance to elementary schools in meeting the HealthierUS School Challenge, expand the Power Panther Pals nutrition education and physical activity program (classroom initiatives), continue implementation of Power Panther Professionals (staff wellness and role model), and develop a Family Fun, Food, and Fitness Nights initiative to engage parents and communities.

Lousiana

Lousiana will provide mini-grants to school districts to build school and community support for creating healthy school environments and provide training in implementing Coordinated School Health Programs, through district wellness policies. Louisiana will expand a social marketing campaign in schools to promote TN and State Nutrition Action Plan (SNAP) messages in schools.

Maine

Missouri

Missouri will implement Missouri's Extreme Health Challenge. This initiative will equip 4th and 5th graders, their parents and teachers with the knowledge, skills and motivation to make healthy eating and physical activity choices while learning and teaching Missouri history. Training will be provided for teachers and foodservice personnel on the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, MyPyramid for Kids, and Fruit and Vegetables Galore.

South Dakota

South Dakota will offer mini-grants to establish school gardens for schools on Indian reservations. Power Panther will visit schools, child care and after school programs to deliver Team Nutrition messages. Mini-grants will be offered to schools and afterschool programs to promote fruit and vegetable consumption.

Vermont

Vermont will provide training and technical assistance for school and child care foodservice staff using the Vermont's Child Nutrition Culinary Certificate Program.
