Welcome to Access Management

The Access Management Unit (AMU) is part of the Technical Services Branch of the Highway Division. The AMU is responsible for statewide development and administration of the Department's access management program statutes, rules, and policies. Services provided by the AMU include the following:

- Training agency staff, consultants and local governments
- Administering the approach permitting database (CHAMPS - Central Highway Approach Maintenance Permit System)
- Developing administrative rules
- Conducting appeals procedures
- Providing technical consultation, guidance, and training to support Region and District offices
- Developing new program initiatives
- Establishing statewide performance measures and customer service standards
- Performing research and program evaluation

Current Topics & Resources
New Guidance Available For Access Management In Project Development
Chapter 3 of the Access Management Manual has been revised and is now available online. The chapter is titled Guidelines and Resources for Access Management in Project Development. The chapter provides detailed explanations of the purpose, relationship, and content of the deliverables specified in Project Delivery Leadership Team Operational Notices 03 and 03(A). Select the "Project Delivery" link in the left navigation menu for the site where the Guidelines, Operational Notices, forms and other resources for project development are available.
