Our Culture
Four pillars of success define the culture of the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE):
Safety—With every employee following the principles of an integrated plan for safe performance and management of operations, ORISE is recognized as the first site within the Department of Energy (DOE) Oak Ridge complex to achieve "Star" status for safe operations as part of DOE’s Voluntary Protection Program.
Security—Based on a solid security program for protecting employees, assets, and information that is modeled after DOE’s own, ORISE boasts an impeccable track record against physical security violations, cyber attacks, and network downtime because of malicious attacks. As a result, DOE has given ORISE the highest ratings possible for security.
Diversity—ORISE celebrates diversity, placing a high value on all the ways in which we differ and each individual's unique characteristics. This perspective encourages employees and managers to embrace the differing dimensions of individuals in the workplace and to focus on the combined strengths of individual differences for the overall success of the work, work team, and the organization.
Quality—Quality and excellence in all areas of ORISE’s capabilities is key. By integrating key ORISE functions into systematic plans, we enhance our management effectiveness and responsiveness to the needs of DOE and the nation. Improving performance through continuous improvements in quality is what we strive for everyday.
By integrating each of these four pillars into the day-to-day operations and management of ORISE, we ensure that all employees have an understanding of the basic principles that guide our efforts and support our mission.
Paired with opportunities for professional growth, competitive benefits and reward programs, plus a supportive, flexible working environment, the benefits of working at ORISE are many. Our culture provides a strong foundation for success—for every employee and in everything we do.
