Natural Gas Home Refueling

FuelMaker Corporation offers a compressed natural gas (CNG) home refueling appliance, Phill, that brings CNG refueling capability to the homes of individual drivers.

Connected to standard residential natural gas and electric service, Phill can be installed inside a garage (see photo) or outdoors. It provides automated time-fill CNG refueling at a rate of approximately 0.4 gasoline gallon equivalents per hour, appropriate for overnight refueling of commuter vehicles.

Visit the Phill Web site to see if Phill is being sold in your state.

DOE sponsored a safety evaluation of Phill. For details and results, see Evaluating the Safety of a Natural Gas Home Refueling Appliance (HRA) (PDF 373 KB) and Safety Evaluation of the FuelMaker Home Refueling Concept: Final Report (PDF 2.7 MB). Download Adobe Reader.
