Black-capped ChickadeeThe black-capped chickadee is one of the most common birds in the pine barrens of Long Island. You can here it calling its typical chickadee-dee-dee. It also calls out Oh! Canadaaaa. This little bird is a cavity nester and can be seen in the spring around tops of trees eating insects and the fresh buds forming on tips of branches.
