Coordination of Environmental Requirements with Other Agencies

The Pacific Region regularly coordinates and consults with other Federal, State and local agencies and assists them with ensuring environmental and regulatory requirements under those jurisdictions and authorities are implemented and complied with.

Coordination examples include:

bullet Water Quality Sampling. Pacific Region Environmental Liaisons work closely with EPA Region IX to perform water quality sampling for compliance with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES).

bullet Offshore Air Quality Compliance. The Pacific Region coordinates with local Air Pollution Control Districts on environmental reviews and monitoring of air quality requirements for oil & gas projects.

bullet Pacific Region Dive Team. The Pacific Region supports an underwater dive team of MMS scientists who work with other Southern California Federal and State agencies to ensure baseline conditions are understood, mitigations are being implemented, and there is no residual damage from offshore oil & gas projects.
