NOAA ISSUES MONTHLY CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR Pendleton Airport

       According to preliminary data received by NOAA's National Weather Service in Pendleton Oregon, temperatures at the Pendleton airport averaged slightly colder than normal during the month of September.

       The average temperature was 62.3 degrees which was 1.1 degrees below normal. High Temperatures averaged 78.3 degrees, which was 1.2 degrees above normal. The highest was 92 degrees on the 16th. Low temperatures averaged 46.3 degrees, which was 3.4 degrees below normal. The lowest was 35 degrees, on the 23rd.

       On 1 day, the temperature exceeded 90 degrees.

       Precipitation totaled 0.13 inches during September, which was 0.50 inches below normal. Measurable precipitation -at least .01 inch- was received on 1 day.

       Precipitation this year has reached 7.48 inches, which is 1.18 inches below normal. In the past 6 months, the total precipitation at the Pendleton airport has been 4.10 inches, which is 0.63 inches below normal.

       The highest wind gust was 40 mph which occurred on the 20th.

       The outlook for October from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center calls for near normal temperatures and above normal precipitation. Normal highs for the Pendleton airport during October are 63.8 degrees and normal lows are 40.7 degrees. The 30 year normal precipitation is 0.99 inches.
