2-Day Off-Campus Deliveries

A strong partnership exists between NFA and State and local Fire Training Systems to advance the professional development of fire service personnel. This partnership has resulted in the ongoing development and delivery of the Academy's distance delivery curriculum.

Many volunteer and career fire service personnel cannot take time to attend resident programs, so these off-campus delivery courses, most of which are 2-days in length, provide training opportunities within the State and local communities. Courses are selected and cosponsored jointly by NFA and State and local fire training systems. States have the option of electing to use some/all off-campus deliveries as Train-the-Trainer Programs Course materials will be handed off in digital form to the State Training Systems hosting Train-the-Trainer deliveries.

How to Apply

Each year, State Fire Training Systems select Academy courses to be delivered in their States. Interested fire service personnel should contact the State Fire Service Training System for information on specific offerings.

For specific information regarding which Academy off-campus courses will be offered, course locations, dates, registration, and application procedures, applicants should contact the State Fire Service Training System, which is solely responsible for all admission procedures regarding NFA courses delivered in their State.

For further information on these courses, contact the Off-Campus Program Manager at (800) 238-3358, ext. 1301, or (301) 447-1301.

Note: The courses offered for the State Weekend Program are identical to those offered through the 2-day off-campus delivery program. The same instructors used for off-campus, nationwide deliveries teach the courses for both deliveries. The curriculum covers a variety of subjects, including fire/injury prevention, public education, company tactical operations, incident command, health and safety, hazardous materials, and leadership, among others.
