Integrated Voice Response System Upgrade, Sept. 15

On Monday, September 15, 2008, ITD Telecommunications will complete the upgrade of the IntelliSPEECH Integrated Voice Response (IVR) system that provides directory assistance and call processing for BNL's main listed directory number, 631-344-8000.

The upgraded platform integrates nightly updates from the BNL Online Directory data base to provide accurate and timely updates to the IVR data base. In addition to this application enhancement, a new feature enhancement includes the announcement of the extension for the requested name prior to the transfer of the call.

All employees, guests & contractors are encouraged to verify the accuracy of their directory information by accessing the BNL website and selecting the Directory tab. If your personal directory entry is missing or inaccurate, contact your departmental representative to have it updated. (Use this link to determine who your representative is.) If you are not listed in the BNL Online Directory, you will not be reachable through the Integrated Voice Response System.

In these final weeks before implementation, Telecommunications encourages all users to place a test call to check phonetic pronunciation of their name & successful call transfer to their extensions. Temporary extension numbers have been setup for the testing phase and will be disconnected after September 15th.

Please dial extension 688000 and ask for yourself by name. If your test call is unsuccessful, please call voicemail box 8585 and follow the detailed instructions to report a problem. This mailbox will be monitored to effect corrective action prior to implementation of the new IVR.
