Windows Software Update Services (WSUS)

The Windows Software Update Services (formally SUS) works in conjunction with Microsoft’s Automatic Updates and will keep your machine up to date with the latest critical updates and patches. When installed, this service will automatically update and install these patches and prompt the current logged on user for a reboot. This service will not automatically reboot any system where a user is logged in without first prompting the user to do so.

In the event a machine is powered up but no one is logged into it, the machine will reboot automatically upon successful completion of the updates.

Minimum Requirements

In order to use this service, you must have one of the following Operating Systems:

  • Windows 2000 Professional - minimum of Service Pack 4
  • Windows 2000 Server - minimum of Service Pack 4
