How do you find shipwrecks and underwater sites?  What tools do archaeologists use to find and then document these mysteries beneath the waves?  Join scientists live from Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary as they explore underwater sites in the waters of Lake Huron September 12, 2008. Three live broadcasts highlight three different field projects from 2008. Half-hour broadcasts take place at 10 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm EST.  Viewers can submit questions via email for expedition scientists to answer during the programs.

Topics include remote sensing and AUV (autonomous underwater vehicle) surveys, underwater sinkhole research, and deep diving on pristine shipwrecks. Learn more about the unique qualities of underwater sinkholes scientists are exploring in Thunder Bay.  See the cutting edge technology archaeologists use to find shipwrecks and map new areas of Lake Huron bottom lands.  Meet divers documenting an undisturbed shipwreck 200 feet below the surface in the cold, dark waters of Thunder Bay. The live broadcasts will take you along on a voyage of discovery together with scientists studying shipwrecks, sinkholes, and underwater robots.  So tune in at www.OceansLive.org or www.ImmersionPresents.org for more information about this expedition.
