Reporting
NOTE: The system will be down from 8a.m. -12 p.m. Aug 9th for maintenance.

If you have an ID from 2007, you do NOT need to re-register.

Before you complete the three steps below, read the Tips/Tutorial: pdf (452 kB), .doc

Step 1. Register as a reporter (start here first (registration system)) Note: If you are filing for yourself or the company you work for, register as a Self reporter not a Proxy reporter.

Step 2. File reports (reporting system)

Step 3. Check your reports! Please go to the Previous Reports button after you log in and check what you have submitted to the PURS system. PURS staff have seen numerous problems. One major example is people using the Make Similar Report button incorrectly filing more reports than intended. If you see more reports than you meant to file, call the PURS Info Line at 503.986.6472 to speak with a PURS staff and we will help you get your information corrected.
Do not assume that your information is correct because a PURS staffer has not called you. We DO NOT review each report, nor do we know what you intended to file!

Specialized electronic data submission "EDS"
Explanatory documents
This information may be particularly useful to computer software developers. Others may find it of limited value.
  • EDS data dictionary (.doc)
  • EDS document type definition (.dtd)
  • EDS example (.xml)
  • Values list (sites, water basins, units, purposes) (.doc)
  • For in house location conversions (GPS to water basin) use the 3rd field HUCs from the following data set:
    Hydrologic Units - 1st through 6th Field
  • For product information (EPA product number, product name, other product number (when present), and product formulation, click the following button to automatically download the zip file to your computer - button to go to text file for Oregon registration information WARNING: This file is updated weekly.

Things to keep in mind
The following items have come up as people are working to get their XML files ready for EDS.
  • For all site categories, except Agriculture, Urban/general indoor, and Urban/general outdoor, please use the word Any in the specific site field of your reports.
  • Product names must match the ODA system exactly.
  • Spelling and case of water basins, units and purposes must match exactly the PURS system. Please refer to Values list above.
  • The id field for each report must start with an alpha character.
  • When a product has all three fields (epa product number, product name, and other product number)  in the Oregon pesticide product file (downloadable above), you must include all three fields in the EDS file.  This is shown in the EDS example above in ACME1 second product listed.

Additional resources
The following links provide additional general information about XML. Other informational sources are available, but are not identified here.

Annual reports
  • 2006 PURS annual report (1.19 MB pdf)
    • Note: An initial 2006 annual report was posted in 2007. It did not contain Household Use Survey data. This addendum does contain the data and replaces the report posted in 2007.
