Release Memo 1065/1065-B MeF 2008v1.0

We are pleased to post the draft version 2008v1.0 of the Tax Year (TY) 2008 for Forms 1065 and 1065-B XML schemas and Business Rules.

XML Schemas
The above schemas include all tax forms and schedules for Forms 1065 and 1065-B and is posted to the Production and Assurance Testing System (ATS) charts.  They will be available in ATS on 11/03/2008 and in Production on 01/05/2009.

The TY 2008 schema 2008v1.0 is a major schema version change. 

The major changes to TY 2008 include:

·          A new checkbox to designate a 1065 return as Technical Termination

·          Form 1065 Schedule B

·          Schedule M-3 (Form 1065)

 All changes to the schema can be found in the “Diff” files.

Business Rules
We’ve posted the updated Business Rules for Forms 1065 and 1065-B (2008v1.0 for TY2008) in two different formats containing identical information – Adobe (.pdf), and Comma Separated File (.csv).

Change pages are posted for Forms 1065 and 1065-B Business Rules for Tax Year, 2006, version 2.7 and Tax Year 2007, version 3.5.  Please see change pages for details.

Form 7004
The schemas for Form 7004 are posted under Current Valid XML Schemas for 1120/1120S Modernized e-File. Changes are displayed in the “Diff Files”. 

A major change to TY2008 include:

·          The automatic extension of time to file for partnerships changed from 6 months to 5 months
