What's New?

"Dulles Diamond" Checkpoint Now Open

A new checkpoint to speed experienced adult travelers through the security screening process is now open.  The checkpoint is downstairs on the Arrivals Level of the Main Terminal.

This new service will also help to reduce wait times at the Main Passenger Screening Checkpoint.

Please note the traveler criteria for using these lanes:
  • Expert adult traveler (2 or more trips per month)
  • Traveling alone
  • Up to one carry-on item
  • Security ready (3-1-1 for liquids/gels, laptops out of the case, shoes off)

Concourse B has Expanded

In January, a newly expanded section of Concourse B opened and AirTran, American, Delta, JetBlue and Virgin America now operate there.  Mobile lounge routes changed as a result. Signage is posted with directions to all gates.

Restrictions Regarding Traveling with Lithium Batteries

As of January 1, 2008, passengers may not pack loose (or “spare”) lithium batteries in checked luggage. Instead these batteries must be installed in your carry-on electronic device or packaged to reduce the risk of overheating. Passengers may not bring more than two spare lithium batteries on board the flight. More details are available at the U.S. Department of Transportation website (click here).

Roadway Improvements at Dulles

A project to improve roadway access to the airport is complete. New lanes and ramps are open to traffic, including:
  • New lanes entering and leaving the airport to/from the Dulles Toll Road and Airport Access Highway
  • New “flyover” ramp for inbound traffic headed for Economy Parking, Rental Cars, and Airport Services
  • New ramp from southbound Route 28 to the airport
  • New ramp near the Signature Flight Support facility to exit the airport
  • Several new overhead directional signs

Parking Locator Cards

Have you ever returned from a trip and realized you don’t remember where you parked your car? New parking locator cards at Dulles help passengers find their vehicles. The 3x5 inch cards are printed with color-coded information about the daily garages and economy parking lots, and include tear-off sections corresponding to specific parking rows or shuttle bus stop locations. Passengers can pick up a parking locator card at the bright yellow boxes located at each shuttle bus stop in the Economy Lots and at all elevator lobbies in the Daily Garages.

Wireless Internet Access is Available Throughout the Airport
