Reducing the economic, social, and personal burden due to injury in Oregon
We examine sources of data that describe injury problems among Oregonians to identify prevention strategies, plan interventions and evaluate outcomes. We maintain an injury data information system and focus on the identification and prevention of morbidity and mortality due to injury among Oregonians. Activities of the section include Injury Epidemiology, Child Fatality Review Team, Child Injury Prevention, Intimate Partner Violence Surveillance, National Violent Death Reporting System, and Elder & Youth Suicide Prevention.
Data
Injury Epidemiology
The Injury Epidemiology Program gathers and analyzes data on all unintentional and intentional injuries in Oregon. Ongoing surveillance data are used to determine the magnitude of fatal and non-fatal injuries in Oregon, monitor trends, identify priority areas, complete data requests, and to guide program development and policy initiatives.
