Secure Flight Rulemaking

Secure Flight

A public meeting was held by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regarding the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) entitled "Secure Flight Program" on September 20, 2007.

Approximately 90 people attended the meeting. Eight comments were submitted for the record and many stakeholders expressed appreciation to TSA for the opportunity to engage in conversation about this government program.

The public meeting allowed for an open dialogue between members of the public and the creators of the Secure Flight program. Comments, questions and suggestions from the participating public will be carefully weighed and will be taken into consideration when TSA writes the final rule for Secure Flight. The public comment period began on August 23 and closed on November 21, 2007.

In addition to Administrator Hawley, the TSA panelists included; Director of Secure Flight Don Hubicki, Deputy Director of Secure Flight Paul Leyh, Director of Privacy Policy and Compliance Peter Pietra, Special Counselor Kimberly Walton, and Attorney-Advisor Mai Dinh.
