The Fort Harrison VA Regional Office is remotely managed by the Salt Lake City Regional Office and is located west of Helena, Montana, on the campus of the VA Montana Heath Care System.  Fort Harrison's jurisdiction is the entire State of Montana, with an estimated veteran population of 106,080.  The total Regional Office authorized employment level is 48 full time equivalent employees.  The Regional Office is responsible for the administration of veterans' benefits for the entire state of Montana, to include compensation and vocational rehabilitation and employment.  There are two out based Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment offices at Billings and Missoula.  Compensation and pension payments amount to approximately $157 million annually for Montana.  A groundbreaking ceremony for construction of the new Fort Harrison VA Regional Office took place on August 11, 2005.  Construction at the site is nearing completion, with a dedication ceremony tentatively planned for April 2007.
