NOHRSC Help Page
Changes introduced in the 2005-2006 season:
Interactive Map Changes
- New layout
- The Zoom Control "slider" tool, which allows the user to quickly zoom
in/out on an area.
The plus and minus buttons zoom in or out one
"notch" (a factor of 2). This replaces the zoom in/zoom out buttons
and the zoom factor dialog.
- The ability to zoom to a rectangle defined by clicking and dragging on the map.
This can be done on the index map at all times, and on the main map when not in query mode. This requires javascript.
- Cursor coordinates are now additionally shown above the map.
- Moving the cursor over the index map will also display coordinates.
- The "Recenter map at coordinates" button, which recenters the map at
whatever coordinates are shown above it.
- The "Extents" button has been replaced with an icon of the coterminous US
and an addition icon of Alaska.
Clicking on these icons will zoom to their region limits.
- The ability to query stations shown via the "Latest Observations" group of physical elements. Display one of these, select Query -> Latest Observations, and make sure the Query button is clicked. The user can then mouseover or click on the values shown to determine the station involved.
- The ability to minimize the top banner if screen real estate is tight, using the "Minimize top banner" option in the Map Preferences dialog.
- The ability to show just the raster grid when viewing the physical element, "Interpolated Total Snowfall", using the "hide the observation values" option in the Map Preferences dialog.
