In this SeaWiFS image captured on June 13, 2001, the Mexican island of Guadalupe was seen shedding another vortex street. The image also shows phytoplankton blooms along the California and Mexican coasts and a few smoke plumes in the San Joaquin Valley. The whitish color of the water in the northern Gulf of California is most likely caused by sunglint. In this image, north is located slightly left of straight up.
