Command Master Chief Bradley enlisted in the Coast
Guard in 1976, attending Basic Training at Cape May, N.J., and graduated
as the Honor Graduate with Company Kilo-99. During his 30 plus years of
service as a career Boatswains Mate he has been stationed aboard the Coast
Guard Cutters: Woodrush (WLB-407); Mesquite (WLB-305); Cape Horn (WPB-95322;
as the Executive Petty Officer, Iris (WLB-395); Long Island (WPB-1342); as
the Executive Petty Officer, Buttonwood(WLB-306); as the Silver Badge
Command Chief, Barracuda (WPB-87301); Gannet (WPB-87334); and
Ridley (WPB-87328) as the Officer in Charge, for a total of more than sixteen
and a half years of sea duty.
When not at sea, his duty assignments have been at Training Center Cape May
and at the Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat Stations at Montauk, N.Y., and Point
Allerton, Mass., as the Executive Petty Officer; in addition to the Coast
Guard Search and Rescue Station in Venice, La., as the Officer in Charge. He
assumed the duties of the “Gold Badge” Command Master Chief at Training
Center at Cape May in August 2007.
Master Chief Bradley is a graduate of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer
Academy (Class XL) and the Air Force Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Academy
(Class 01-E). He holds two Bachelors Degrees from Portland State University
in Criminal Justice and Excelsior College in Psychology, in addition to a
Masters Degree from the University of Oregon in Judicial Administration. He
has attended numerous civilian schools and almost every service school open
to him during his career. Additionally he currently holds a Merchant Masters
License for any vessel to 1600-tons.
His personal awards include two Meritorious Service Medals with operational
device, five Coast Guard Commendation Medals with operational device, the
Department of Transportation 9-11 Medal, five Coast Guard Achievement Medals
with operational device, and nine Commandant’s Letter of Commendation
ribbons with operational device.
He is an avid golfer
and has been active with the Boy Scouts of America as both a youth scouter
and as an adult leader. He is also a Silver Lifetime Member of the United
States Coast Guard Chief Petty Officer Association.
