Training Center personnel are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to participate in a mentoring program. An effective mentoring program is a professional development tool that allows the exchange of valuable information. Personnel who voluntarily participate in the program share experience, skills and information to benefit their shipmates. Knowledge gained through this experience should increase productivity, performance, and career satisfaction. Our goal is to provide you easy access to resources to reap the benefits of the vast experience of senior Coast Guard members.
What is a Mentor? By definition a mentor is someone, usually senior, willing to share expertise, knowledge, organizational insight, professional advice, or other information with another, the mentee.
What is a Mentee? Someone, usually junior, who wishes to enhance his or her professional development using advice and counsel of a mentor.
What is a the mentoring partnership? An agreement between two people sharing experiences and expertise to help with personal and professional growth. It may be of long or short duration and conducted in person or by any form of communication.
