What is Lifesavers? (back to top)

Lifesavers is the premier national highway safety meeting in the United States dedicated to reducing the tragic toll of deaths and injuries on our nation's roadways. Starting in the early 1980s, the Lifesavers conference attendance has grown steadily, drawing over 2,000 participants in 2008. Each year, the Lifesavers Conference has become even more relevant and timely, providing a forum that delivers common-sense solutions to today's critical highway safety problems.

The conference addresses a wide range of safety topics, from child passenger safety and occupant protection to roadway and vehicle safety and technology. It offers the latest information on advances in highway safety, highlights successful programs and draws attention to emerging safety issues.

Lifesavers has no single sponsor and relies on the involvement of diverse private and public groups who share the common goal of improving highway safety.

Why Should You Attend Lifesavers? (back to top)

While it is impossible to correlate reduced crashes, injuries and fatalities to attendance at a conference, the Lifesavers program is put together by a dedicated group of highway safety experts from both the public and private sectors. We strive to base workshops on evidence-based programs that can be replicated in communities throughout the country. If you haven't attended a Lifesavers conference in a while, we urge you to join us at our next conference in Nashville. We are confident that you won't go away disappointed.

Conference attendees come from the public and private sectors and represent many career fields. Lifesavers draws attendees from:

Child passenger safety professionals
State and local law enforcement
Community traffic safety programs
State and local emergency medical services, and public health
Injury prevention programs
Federal and state highway safety agencies
Prosecutors and judges involved in traffic safety issues
The automotive and insurance industries
Advocacy and research

Lifesavers participants meet with their highway safety peers in a forum where they can share program successes, learn from each other, and develop alliances with people from all over the country.

Sponsorship (back to top)

Consider being a sponsor of the Lifesavers 2009 Conference. Your organization would be recognized as a sponsor on all printed material and signage, receive special seating and public recognition at the awards luncheon, and for every $5,000 donated you receive a free conference registration. Please contact Alan Korn for more information at akorn@safekids.org.

Workshop Submissions/Suggestions (back to top)

For 2009, the Lifesavers Conference is developing workshops and obtaining speakers based on input from attendee evaluations. If the committee decides to solicit submissions, we will post the information on this website.
