Description:

• This PAR solicits applications for the Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) program to provide administrative and shared research support to enhance AIDS research.
• CFARs provide core facilities, expertise, resources, and services not readily obtained otherwise through more traditional funding mechanisms.
• The program emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, especially between basic and clinical investigators, translational research between the laboratory and the clinic and vice versa, inclusion of minority investigators, and inclusion of prevention and behavioral change research.
• Awards resulting from this PAR will be made as P30 Center Core grants.
• The number of awards will vary from year to year because of the nature and scope of the CFAR program, the funds available, the quality of the applications received, and programmatic priorities.
• Applicants for the developmental D-CFAR and the standard CFAR can apply for up to five years of support.
• For Developmental CFAR applications, up to $750,000 total cost per center per year will be awarded. For standard CFAR applications, up to $3,000,000 total cost per center per year will be awarded. The total amount awarded will depend on the applicant institutions NIH AIDS funded research base.
• Eligible organizations include:
  • For-profit organizations
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Public or private institutions, such as universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories,
  • Units of State government -Units of local government
  • Domestic Institutions (Foreign components are permitted)
  • Any individual with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to carry out the proposed research is invited to work with their institution to develop an application for support. Women, individuals from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups as well as individuals with disabilities are always encouraged to apply for NIH programs.
  • No institution may have more than one CFAR award.
