Economic Development
Throughout the world, development of wind energy is seen as a way to assist the expansion of local economies. It delivers short-term construction jobs and long term employment for operating and maintaining the wind facilities. It increases the largely rural tax basis, and if the facility is locally owned, the return on its investment has a positive effect on the region as well. Solid data on the economic impacts of wind energy development are becoming available. Following are resources and reports that highlight a variety of related issues.

The NWCC seeks to explore the economic development benefits and cost of wind power for landowners and communities, particularly economically challenged areas.
