Throughout the world, development of wind energy is seen as a way to assist the expansion of local economies. It delivers short-term construction jobs and long term employment for operating and maintaining the wind facilities. It increases the largely rural tax basis, and if the facility is locally owned, the return on its investment has a positive effect on the region as well.
