NHLBI Research Training Programs for High School Students

The programs listed below are designed to stimulate interest in research and to encourage high school students to consider majoring in science at the undergraduate level. The programs reflect the Institute's longstanding commitment to research training and career development for young people. These positions can start a student on a career track leading to an M.D., Ph.D., or other equivalent degree.

For high school students, the NHLBI provides a research training program that supports summer positions at the Institute.

For high school students, the NHLBI also offers a program that supports the participation of students with disabilities and/or from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in research projects at U.S. institutions during the summer or academic year, or a combination of summer and academic year.
