Integrated Quality and Environmental Management Program
The Aircraft Repair and Supply Center (ARSC) utilizes the International Organization for Standardization ISO 9001:2000 (Quality) and ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental) standards to ensure our business management system is effective and continually improving. ISO certification ensures our organization has a documented quality and environmental management system, including verifiable processes, measures of effectiveness, process and document control, corrective/preventive actions, and a continual improvement plan that is fully deployed and consistently followed. ARSC's integrated business system performance and effectiveness is monitored periodically through ongoing internal and third-party process-based audits.
ARSC's business management system is based on eight management principles that serve as the foundation for the ISO 9001:2000 and 14001:2004 standards:
- Customer Focus – ARSC values its customers and, therefore, continuously seeks to understand, meet, and exceed customer requirements and expectations. This involves communicating customer needs and requirements throughout the organization, measuring customer satisfaction, and acting on the results.
- Leadership – ARSC's leaders establish unity of purpose and direction for the organization. They create and foster an environment in which employees may become fully involved in accomplishing set objectives. ARSC provides its employees with the resources required to accomplish tasks effectively and responsibly.
- Involvement of People – Employees are the organization's most valued assets. ARSC fosters an environment that encourages employees to actively seek opportunities to make improvements. Employees are further encouraged to be innovative and creative in furthering ARSC's objectives.
- Process Approach – Processes are defined, designed, and managed to achieve desired results. Methods have been established to identify and measure process inputs and outputs.
- System Approach to Management – ARSC identifies and manages interrelated processes as a system, thus ensuring efficient and effective achievement of its objectives.
- Continual Improvement – ARSC makes the continual improvement of processes, products, and services a permanent objective for every individual in the organization and includes the promotion of prevention-based activities.
- Factual Approach to Decision Making – Process measurement data and information is captured and analyzed. Decisions are made and action is taken based on measurement results.
- Mutually Beneficial Supplier Relationships – ARSC has created clear and open communication with its suppliers. These mutually beneficial relationships enhance the ability to meet and exceed customer needs and requirements.
Compliance of ARSC's business management system to the ISO 9001:2000 and 14001:2004 standards helps to ensure the following:
- customer requirements are fully understood
- corresponding inputs and outputs have been determined
- adequate training, resources, and infrastructure are determined and established to ensure achievement of planned objectives
- processes are planned, developed, and appropriately documented to produce a product or service that will meet or exceed customer requirements
- measures have been defined and established to capture process performance data
- analysis of data is performed comparing actual process output results to desired output results
- process adjustments and improvements are made to align actual results with desired results
- consistent control of significant environmental impacts and minimization of pollution in all operations and activities
The end result of compliance to the ISO 9001:2000 and 14001:2004 standards is a greater confidence in the delivery of a product or service that meets and/or exceeds customer requirements and expectations, while at the same time preserving the environment through pollution prevention.
