Support to Mission

Who We Are

Officers on the Support to Mission team represent a highly varied group with significant occupational versatility and diversity. In response to the Agency’s wide ranging needs, we recruit and retain people with skills in nearly three-quarters of the Agency’s occupational families, ranging from Medical Services and Logistics, to Security, Facilities, IT, Finance, Education, and General Support. There are more than 50 different career disciplines represented in the support services arena that contribute to the success of all our intelligence colleagues.

We recruit both employees with very targeted skills, such as doctors or finance officers, as well as generalists with an array of wide-ranging talents. Regardless, our officers are constantly challenged to learn, to adapt, and to contribute to a wide variety of situations. They are offered many opportunities to increase their skills and expand their knowledge base. Support personnel add creativity to their expertise and energy to get the job done. Serving at home and abroad, our corps of dedicated professionals plays a vital role in the national security of our country every day.

A brief description of  the occupational groups that make up the Support to Mission team are outlined below. To apply for a specific position, visit the CIA Careers page.
