The energy conservation requirements for all buildings constructed in Oregon are contained within the state´s building codes.  These requirements are divided into two categories: residential and non-residential.  Residential buildings include all Occupancy Group R, which are three stories and less in height.  Non-residential includes all other buildings (including four-story and higher residential).
Oregon has two separate building codes: Oregon Structural Specialty Code and Oregon One and Two-Family Dwelling Code.  Oregon adopts and amends the parent document to each of these codes.  Amendments to the parent codes are performed through a public involvement process.  It is through this amendment process that Oregon has developed its own specific requirements.  Energy conservation requirements are contained in Chapter 13 of the Oregon Structural Specialty Code and Appendix E of the Oregon One and Two-Family Dwelling Code.

These pages are designed to offer background and documents on Oregon´s energy code for buildings.  If your organization needs on-site training, contact Alan Seymour at the Oregon Department of Energy at (503) 378-5873.  Mini-workshops are intended to provide on-site training on Oregon´s energy code for designers and builders.  To maximize the value of this service, we ask for a minimum participation of five people.  Topics include:
