FY 1974

STD observations in the Northeast Pacific, September–October 1972

Reed, R.K., and D. Halpern

NOAA Tech. Report ERL 271-POL 19, NTIS: COM-73-50923/4, 62 pp (1973)

Summaries of STD measurements in the northeast Pacific during September and October 1972 are presented as computer-generated plots and as listings of temperature, salinity, sigma-t, and dynamic height anomaly. Distributions of physical properties and flow during October are presented and discussed. The variation of dynamic height anomaly at three time series stations is evaluated; results at all sites suggest the existence of semidiurnal internal tidal waves. Deviations at the same sites occupied a month apart were only slightly greater than those that occurred during a 12-hr period.
