Colorado law defines the practice of medicine. The law specifically requires licensure by the State Board of Medical Examiners if "using the title MD, DO, physician, surgeon, or any other word or abbreviation to indicate or induce others to believe that one is licensed to practice medicine in this state...." Further, no one may perform "any kind of surgical operation upon a human being" without being licensed by the Board of Medical Examiners.
