| CHARITIES: All charitable organizations soliciting contributions in Colorado -- with a few specific exceptions listed in the Charitable Solicitations Act at 6-16-104(6)(a)-(c), C.R.S. -- must submit an initial registration statement with the Secretary of State and receive a registration number. |
| After the initial registration, annual registration statements must be renewed each year by the 15th day of the fifth month after the close of the organization's fiscal year |
| The registration system is an entirely electronic system; no paper forms will be accepted as valid filings. Filing requires a valid email address, recent financial statements, a list of the board of directors, the organization's federal employer identification number (EIN), and a reference copy of the organization's IRS determination letter or tax-exempt application, if applicable. |

| SOLICITORS: In addition, the Act provides requirements for disclosure and record-keeping requirements by paid solicitors on behalf of a charitable organization. |

| Solicitors must disclose their full legal name and the fact that they are a paid solicitor before soliciting a contribution. |
| Must also file a "financial report" within 90 days of campaign year's end. |
| Paid solicitors (or the charitable organization) must file a "solicitation notice" with the Secretary of State before each campaign or each year of an ongoing campaign. The on-line registration system is an entirely electronic system, so no paper forms will be accepted. |
| Covers all solicitation whether made in writing or by oral request and includes sale of advertisements, coupons, magazines, memberships, products, subscriptions, tickets, flowers, candy or other tangible items. |
