Restrictions apply to certain highway sections and times-of-day.
Pilot car operators in Colorado need to complete an application and pass a certification test at CDOT to be certified. The test costs $5.00 and the certification is good for 5 years.

Escort Car must meet Department of Transportation's regulations for lighting of vehicle and signs: "Escort" required while in Colorado
If providing inter-state service, must check with other states for their regulations (e.g. New Mexico will not allow out-of-state pilot car at all; they must be New Mexico based.)
Tax authentication and Certificate of Insurance in the amount of $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident

NOTE:  Additional permitting may be required from local governments to transport overweight and/or over width vehicles on the local level.
