You can produce electricity with a wind system and get a tax credit of two dollars per estimated kilowatt hour saved during the first year, up to $6,000. Qualifying costs include wind measuring equipment, turbines, towers, associated components, engineering costs, utility interconnection equipment and installation.
You will need wind information for your location and calculations showing how much energy your expect to produce. A worksheet and the tax credit application form are linked in the right-hand column.
Important: Applications for tax credits must be received by the Oregon Department of Energy no later than April 1 of the year following the purchase, even if the tax credit is carried forward.
