Historic Preservation, Sustainability and LEEDCo-sponsored by New York Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) A discussion by Jean Carroon, AIA. GSA’s Northeast and Caribbean Region, in co-sponsorship with the New York Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is pleased to present the first in a series of lectures discussing the integration of sustainability in historic facilities. This series will address the current challenges to improve building performance and maintain historic integrity, while strengthening sustainability of landmark buildings. GSA and the USGBC is proud to present Jean Carroon, FAIA, LEED, principal at Goody Clancy Architects, as the first speaker in this series. Named a member of the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows in April, Carroon has significantly increased the nation’s awareness of the importance of and potential for the integration of sustainable design and the stewardship of historic buildings. Her role as an articulate spokesperson for environmentally responsible design has helped bridge the divide between the preservation and the emerging green communities. Through her lectures, presentations and teaching she has educated and expanded awareness about key topics surrounding preservation and sustainable design and advanced the professional dialogue about sustainable design and key issues in preservation. A sought-after speaker, Jean lectures frequently on preservation and green-design topics to local and national audiences, including the National Building Museum in Washington, DC. She will also be presenting at this year’s Greenbuild Conference in November. AIA members -- Continuing Education Credit (2 AIA LUs) is pending AIA approval
