GOV. RITTER APPOINTS ELBERT COUNTY COURT JUDGE

Gov. Bill Ritter today announced he has appointed Palmer L. Boyette of Parker to serve as an Elbert County Court judge in the 18th Judicial District.

Palmer Boyette will leave his current position as a magistrate judge for the 2nd Judicial District Court, an appointment he has held since 2001. Before that, Boyette served as an assistant city attorney in Denver (2000 to 2001), a lead senior attorney in the Florida Department of Children and Families (1993 and 1996 to 1999), an associate in the Florida law firm of Batchelor and Vojak (1993 to 1996), and an assistant public defender in Naples, Fla. (1989 to 1993).

He earned his bachelor's degree from Florida State University in 1986 and his law degree from the same institution in 1989.

Boyette will fill the vacancy occasioned by the retirement of the Hon. Kevin Sidel. The initial term of office is a provisional term of approximately two years, and then until the second Tuesday in January following the next general election.
