Doesn't SSA have my address information?
  Question
Why must I enter my mailing address on a Social Security Statement request; doesn't Social Security have that information?
  Answer

No. We keep address information only for people who are receiving benefits or who are entitled to Medicare. Therefore, your request must include address information so we can mail a completed Statement to you. You can send your request for a Statement by Internet, download a paper version of the request form to mail in, call our toll-free telephone number 1-800-772-1213 (TTY, 1-800-325-0778) or visit your local Social Security office for a request form.

Every year, Social Security automatically mails a Statement to workers who are age 25 or older and not receiving benefits. We obtain your current address from the Internal Revenue Service and we destroy that information soon after your Statement is mailed to you.
