The Graphic Services Unit performs a variety of printing, duplicating and related processes. We are conveniently located in Room 17 in the Transportation Building.
Formerly knows as Reprographics, we have expanded into the digital world with a full complement of computer-based printing equipment to meet your needs.
Large Document Duplication
It used to be called "blue printing." But today, large document duplication is a whole lot more. The entire process is digital. That means the prints are superior in quality, can be enlarged or reduced, and the digital files can be saved on the computer for future use. Prints can be made on bond paper, vellum, mylar or film.
All documents printed are electronically scanned. So in addition to making prints, the digital files can be copied to CDs or shared through the computer network. Because files can be saved in editable formats, you can convert your documents from hard copy to digital without having to start from scratch.
We can scan documents as large as 36 inches by 100 feet, in color or black-and-white.
Color Plotter Printing
We can print posters, banners, signs, displays and exhibits, all in dazzling, brilliant color. Depending on your needs, we can print on bond paper, photo paper, mylar or vinyl.
Our high-speed, six color plotter produces fabulous photo-quality prints up to 42 inches wide and 100 feet long.
Optical Character Recognition
Bring us a printed page and you can leave with an MS Word text file. There is no need to manually re-key any document. We scan your document and use optical character recognition software to convert it into a text file. In most cases, we can even retain the formatting!
Photo Scanning
For high quality printing, your photographs need to be professionally scanned. Our high-resolution scans can be enlarged, edited, color-corrected and are compatible with all image-setting systems for process-color printing.
CD Bulk Duplication
Publish without paper. For a fraction of the cost of traditional publishing, you can distribute your documents on computer compact discs.
CDs are fast to produce, easy to store and very affordable. In the age of on-demand publishing, it no longer makes sense to print and store large inventories of paper documents.
On-Demand Color Printing & Copying
We specialize in quick turnaround on short-run jobs. Our Canon® printer uses laser technology to produce high quality color copies and first-generation prints from digital files.
Lamination
Protect your presentation materials by sealing them between layers of 10 mil polyester film. Most laminating services use just 3 or 5 mil material.
Mounting
Mounted on 1/4-inch foam core board, your posters, photos, and charts become free-standing displays. We use full-surface contact adhesive and a vacuum press to assure a permanent bond.
