What Oregon industry supports 52,000 Oregon jobs, generates $5.75 billion in sales and $2 billion in income annually? The answer is the Child Care Industry.
 
This and other great information about just how much Child Care affects Oregon's economy can be found in the recent study completed by Oregon State University titled  Economic Impact of Oregon's Child Care Industry. The report was produced through the Oregon Child Care Information Partnership with funding from the Oregon Employment Department.

 
The Oregon child care industry:
  • Generates more than $639 million in output, or gross annual revenues;
  • Employs at least 14,420 Oregonians in 7,900 small businesses;
  • Keeps 90,297 parents on the job, earning $2.6 billion annually;
  • Enables the production of exports each year that support $5.75 billion in sales, 52,000 Oregon jobs and $1.99 billion in income; and
  • Prepares future generations for school and workplace success.
