To Whom It May Concern:
As a blind person who has traveled independently for many years I feel it is my
responsibility to give input to the Access Board about audible signals and
detectable warnings at every intersection.
I have traveled independently with my white cane for many years. When I first
encountered audible signals I found them totally distracting rather than
helpful. I need to listen to the flow of traffic, and the "chirp chirp" of these
signals masks the sounds of the traffic flow.
This is an extremely important issue to me and many of my blind and visually
impaired friends.
Sincerely,
