Watson B. Miller
(1878 - 1961)

Watson Miller was born in Rensselaer, Indiana. He received a law degree from Dickinson College, and was a veteran of both the Spanish-American War and World War I. Throughout the 1920's and 1930's, Mr. Miller was active in the development of the American Legion, and was instrumental in obtaining passage of legislation awarding pensions to disabled veterans and appropriating money for enlarging the nation's hospital facilities. In 1941 Watson Miller was appointed Assistant Administrator of the Federal Security Agency, and in 1945 became the Administrator, a position he held until 1947, when left to become the Commissioner of the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
