Americans with
Disabilities Act
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a Federal civil rights
law that prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities
in everyday activities, such as buying an item at the store, going
to the movies, enjoying a meal at a local restaurant, exercising at

A comprehensive online resource designed to provide people with disabilities
with the information they need to know quickly and easily. The site
provides access to disability-related information and programs available
across the government on numerous subjects, including civil rights,
education, employment, housing, health, income support, technology,
transportation, and community life.
Children With Disabilities
U.S. Department of Justice, Division of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention sponsors this page devoted to information, statistics and programs
relating to children with disabilities involved in the criminal justice
system. Family oriented.

Interagency Coordinating Council

sponsors this page detailing the mission and activities of the Federal
Interagency Coordinating Council, especially concentrating on bringing

Olmstead Decision
In July 1999, the Supreme Court issued the Olmstead v. L. C. decision.
The Court's decision in that case clearly challenges Federal, state,
and local governments to develop more opportunities for individuals
with disabilities through more accessible systems of cost-effective
community-based services.

Bush on August 28, 2002 as part of his New Freedom Initiative which directed federal agencies to work together to build a one-stop interagency Web portal for people with disabilities, their families, employers, service providers, and community members.
