Classroom Conduct

The FLETC takes great pride in providing quality training in a quality atmosphere. Conduct expected in the classroom is no different at the FLETC than that expected in any well-disciplined institution of learning, including promptness, attentiveness, cooperation, and courtesy to instructors and fellow students. In order to uphold these high standards of conduct, corrective or disciplinary action will be taken including removal from training or placement in a conduct probationary status, for those not adhering to these standards. This action will be coordinated with employing organizations.

Use of tobacco products, eating, or drinking of any beverages other than water in the classroom is strictly prohibited in order to promote good health and cleanliness and to protect the rights of fellow students and Instructors. (NOTE: Instructors may restrict the possession of water in certain classrooms.) Water containers must have a lid, top or cover to prevent spills.

Non-training items/materials (i.e., newspapers, magazines, personal radios, etc.) are not authorized in the classroom.

It is the policy of the Center that all allegations of cheating in Center conducted training programs be reported through official channels to appropriate personnel. Each instance of alleged cheating will be reviewed in detail as is necessary to determine whether there is validity to such allegation. All allegations of cheating shall be made a matter of official record, together with the results of the review and appropriate action. If cheating is proven, you will be dismissed from training.

Classroom Wear

The wearing of the FLETC issued training uniform, including those articles associated with physical training, is NOT authorized off-Center.

The personal appearance presented by students reflects not only upon the Center and the organizations students represent, but also upon the law enforcement profession and the United States Government. Therefore, each student has the responsibility to observe the minimum standards of personal dress outlined below.

Back Pack

For Basic Students it is recommended that the student bring a back pack for transporting text books, materials, etc.

Advanced Students

Appropriate attire will consist of relaxed office (shirts must have a collar) or dress apparel as dictated by the activities of the course. Jogging suits, jeans, tee-shirts, shorts, tank tops, "flip-flops", and similar leisure wear are not authorized for training use; denim jeans are acceptable only in lab or field exercises calling for rough wear or exposure to soil, chemicals, etc. In some Advanced programs, students will receive FLETC or agency-issued fatigue uniforms, which will be worn in accordance with Center regulations. On special occasions, such as graduations, all Advanced students are required to wear appropriate business dress, including coat and tie for male students.

The wearing of the FLETC issued training uniform, including those articles associated with physical training, is NOT authorized off-Center, unless authorized by the Program Manager.

Classroom Requirements

As classrooms are shared by more than one training program, for student comfort the Center provides lockers for textbooks and materials. It is the student’s responsibility to provide the lock.

Use of tobacco products, eating or drinking in the classroom is strictly prohibited.
